1991  She started to study Kaga Yuzen.

After years of training, she become independent as a Kaga Yuzen Artist.While working as a sales person of Kaga Yuzen, she worked on her work as an artist.

 

2012  She got her studio called, Syukusyuku Ann in Higashiyama area. 

 

 2014  The Gamaguchi, purse with metal clasp, which she had been crafting using Kaga Yuzen, was recognized as a Kanazawa Gamaguchi,  It is authorized as one of the Ishikawa brand products.

 

2017  She was qualified as one of the traditional craftspeople.

Explore the world of Kaga Yuzen.

 

The beauty of Kaga Yuzen, one of the Japanese authentic dyeing techniques, have been captivating the heart of people around the world. However, even local people don’t know about the details of the makings of Yuzen and its’ deep connection with nature.

 

This tour takes you to the authentic world of Japanese traditional dyeing technique, through walking around Higashiyama where Kaga Yuzen flourished, guided by a nature guide, and visiting the studio of one of the Kaga yuzen artists. It gives you a rare chance of observing the process of Yuzen dyeing, and getting direct insight of the traditional crafts person. The items you will make during the workshop will be your souvenirs of the day.

■Details:

13:00 Meeting place, introduction, walk to the studio

Know the nature, people, and traditional lifestyle of Kanazawa, Higashiyama area by walking with TABITAIKEN guides.

Correcting motifs for workshop while walking.

14:00 Arrive at the Studio (Syuku Syuku Ann) Short break.

14:10 Workshop begin. Introduction to Kaga Yuzen and Yuzen artist, Sumiko Nakanishi. Explanation of the techniques and processes of making.

Experience Designing and Norioki processes.

15:20 Break and tea time. Interaction with Sumiko sensei.

15:50 Explanation of Coloring process, and coloring your own item.

16:30 Workshop ends, questions, feedbacks. Items will be your souvenirs.

17:00 Program ends

 

■Qualifying age: age over 12 years old

■Capacity: 6 people (minimum 2 people)

■Reservation Due date: one week before the program date

■Cancellation:

Our cancellation policies are as follows;

We will charge ice will cancellation fees from 5 days before the program date.

From 5 days to 3 days before the program date, 30% of the price,

From 3 days to a day before the program date, 50% of the price,

Cancellation of the day of the program, 100% of the price will be charged.
